Can a cord be attached to every type of hearing protector?

We supply a cord with the Compact FlexComfort and ClearSound as a standard accessory. A cord is available as an option for the other types, apart from the SafeSound. It is still in development.

Why does the SafeSound shut out everything with the SoloCom?

The SoloCom is intended to enable you 'to hear what is said properly'. If this combination were to allow surrounding noise through, it would be at the expense of being able to understand speech. The result, furthermore, would be that users would increase the volume with the risk of damaging their hearing.

Is it possible to place a detectable (metal) ball in the hearing protector?

Yes it is. People who work in the food industry often make use of this option because, for example, safety regulations require the loss of personal protection equipment to be able to be quickly detected. The detectable (metal) ball in a hearing protector ensures that it can be found quickly using a magnet.

Why is there no microphone on the SoloCom for a radio phone?

To limit the strain the SoloCom places on the hearing protector as much as possible, the SoloCom is fitted with a relatively thin and particularly lightweight cable. Radio phone connections are fitted with relatively large, heavy connectors, designed for 'thick' cables. The two cannot be combined. Separate handsets are available for most radio phones to which the SoloCom can be connected with a smaller connector. The advantage of this is that the SoloCom cabling is less obstructive.

I work in a plant that uses noisy machines and I'd like to communicate with my colleagues by radio phones. Have you a solution for this?

A SafeSound hearing protector in combination with SoloCom earphone is ideal for this. The SoloCom is connected through the radio phone handset.

Can I use the SoloCom in combination with my MP3 player?

The volume emanating from the SoloCom is not limited. That is why the SoloCom may not be used to listen to the MP3 player on your mobile phone, for example. It is a product intended to enable maximum communication in work-related situations.

Does the SafeSound hearing protector (that is supplied in combination with a SoloCom earphone) have an attenuation filter or is the attenuation in the SafeSound earphone?

Two SafeSound hearing protectors with attenuating filter are supplied with every SoloCom earphone. When you connect the SoloCom earphone to a hearing protector, it replaces the filter. The earphone seals off the surrounding noise as much as possible to enable speech to be understood to the full.

Which colours can I order for my Elacin hearing protectors?

The standard colour for our hearing protectors is transparent, apart from the ClearSound and SafeSound hearing protectors, which are supplied in turquoise and a warm grey respectively. However, all our hearing protectors are also available in beige, blue, yellow, red and black at an additional charge.

Are Elacin hearing protectors tested?

All Elacin hearing protectors are tested and certified and provided with the European CE identification mark. A hearing protector is a product that is 'legally' covered by the 'personal means of protection' guideline. That means that this product must be extensively tested by a certified institute (TNO, for example). Only if it meets all the requirements will it be given the CE identification mark and accompanied by a detailed manual listing all its specifications. If a hearing protector does not carry the CE identification mark, the product has not been certified.

How long do Elacin hearing protectors last?

Elacin hearing protectors last on average for four years. This lifespan does not depend on the quality of the hearing protectors, because that is monitored extremely carefully, but on the auditory canal. During our lives, the auditory canal continuously changes shape. This change can result in a hearing protector not fitting as snugly, not sealing properly and therefore making the attenuation insufficient. To ensure the best possible protection, it is therefore necessary to be measured for new hearing protectors every four years. The recommended replacement date is shown on the grey card with your customer details, which you will receive at the same time as your hearing protectors.

How much attenuation do Elacin hearing protectors achieve?

The Elacin product range offers a wide range of filters and filter types. You can see which type of filter is the most suitable for which hearing protector by looking at our list of products. Your supplier can also give you extensive information about this.

Is it true that the best filter is always the strongest one?

That is a misconception. Too much attenuation is just as irritating as too little. It cuts you off from the outside world and increases the risk of dangerous situations.

I find it difficult to insert the hearing protectors. What can I do to make this easier?

When a hearing protector is new, it can be more difficult to insert into the auditory canal because it lacks flexibility. In that case, we advise applying a little Otoferm ear cream to the part that is to be worn in the auditory canal.

I'm experiencing pain when inserting the hearing protectors. What now?

If your ears are painful, it's best to go and see your supplier. He or she will send the hearing protectors back to us, generally accompanied by a new impression of your auditory canal. Our production department will look at the impression and decide whether an adjustment is needed. In some cases, we will supply a new hearing protector.
